Human Resource management is often perceived as strictly for corporate environments. However, the domestic workforce represents a massive, yet largely informal, sector of the economy. In 2021, we partnered with Canaancare Services to challenge this paradigm, applying corporate HR principles to a non-traditional workforce segment to elevate their professional standing.

01. The Challenge

Domestic workers frequently operate without formal professional standards, leading to a lack of role dignity, inconsistent service delivery, and blurred boundaries between employers and employees. The challenge was to transform an informal mindset into a formalized, professional approach without alienating the workers.

"Professionalism is not defined by the corporate office you sit in, but by the standards and dignity you bring to your work.
02. The Approach
Dignity & Personal Branding
Repositioning domestic work from an "informal hustle" to a respected professional service.
Boundary Management
Equipping workers with the communication tools to manage expectations and deliver consistent quality.
We designed and delivered a bespoke training program tailored specifically for domestic workers. The curriculum stripped away complex corporate jargon and focused on practical service excellence, personal branding, and communication. We introduced foundational HR concepts such as workplace conduct and ethical boundaries in a highly relatable, culturally grounded context.
03. The Results
-
Successfully redefined service excellence standards for domestic staff at Canaancare Services.
-
Improved the confidence and professional identity of the participating workforce.
-
Demonstrated the successful application of corporate HR strategies to informal sectors.
